Donald Rudolf Laub Sr. (1935 to 2024) was an American plastic surgeon and the founder of Interplast, now ReSurge International, which sent multidisciplinary teams to perform reconstructive surgery in developing countries. He earned his medical degree at Marquette in 1960, trained at Yale, and at Stanford co-founded a six-year integrated plastic surgery residency, serving as chief of plastic surgery from 1968 to 1980. The care of a Mexican boy with a cleft lip led him to found Interplast in 1969, and he took part in 159 surgical trips himself. He also studied surgery for gender dysphoria, pioneered the rectosigmoid vaginoplasty, developed metoidioplasty and a modern phalloplasty, and served as the second president of the Harry Benjamin International Gender Dysphoria Association. He further worked on laser tattoo removal.
