An apicoaortic conduit, also called aortic valve bypass, is a cardiothoracic surgical procedure that relieves obstruction of blood flow from the heart left ventricle caused by a narrowed or diseased aortic valve. A bioprosthetic valve is implanted to create a second pathway so blood can bypass the native valve and exit the heart, reducing the pressure gradient responsible for the patient symptoms.
