The Hughes procedure is an oculoplastic surgical technique used to reconstruct a lower eyelid after a significant portion of it has been lost, most commonly following removal of a lower eyelid skin cancer. It is performed in two stages: the first uses a flap of tarsoconjunctival tissue borrowed from the upper eyelid to rebuild the back layer of the lower lid, and a second procedure later divides the flap to restore separate, functioning eyelids. The aim is to restore both the normal appearance and the protective function of the eyelid.
