Lymphangiography

Lymphangiography is a medical imaging procedure, a specific application of the broader technique of lymphography, in which a radiocontrast agent is injected and an X-ray picture is taken to visualize the vessels of the lymphatic system rather than its nodes. The lymphatic vessels are first made visible through a prior subcutaneous injection of a blue dye, after which a radiopaque contrast medium is injected into the small lymphatic vessels themselves; the resulting image, used to locate the vessels and identify blockages in lymphatic drainage, is called a lymphangiogram.
