Microsurgery

Microsurgery is a general term for surgery that requires an operating microscope to perform work too delicate for the unaided eye. Its most significant development has been microvascular technique, which lets surgeons join very small blood vessels and nerves so that tissue can be moved from one part of the body to another or a severed part reattached. Microsurgical techniques are used today across many specialties, including general surgery, ophthalmology, orthopedic surgery, gynecological surgery, otolaryngology, neurosurgery, oral and maxillofacial surgery, plastic surgery, podiatric surgery and pediatric surgery.
