Nephropexy is a surgical procedure that repositions and fixes a floating or mobile kidney in place, either to prevent it from descending further or to deliberately lower it to compensate for a shortened ureter. First performed by Eugen Hahn in 1881, it was originally an open operation but is now usually done laparoscopically.
