Uvulopalatopharyngoplasty, or UPPP, is a type of sleep surgery performed for sleep-related breathing disorders, especially obstructive sleep apnea. It involves removal or remodeling of tissues in the throat to prevent airway obstruction during sleep, typically removing the pharyngeal and adenoid tonsils and remodeling the uvula, soft palate and parts of the pharynx. It is the most common surgical procedure performed for obstructive sleep apnea.
