Holter Monitor

A Holter monitor, in medicine often simply called a Holter, is a type of ambulatory electrocardiography device, a portable device for cardiac monitoring worn for at least 24 hours to record the electrical activity of the cardiovascular system through electrodes placed on the chest. Its extended monitoring duration helps identify occasional cardiac rhythm abnormalities that might not appear during a shorter standard electrocardiogram, and for patients with more intermittent symptoms physicians may instead recommend event monitors capable of even longer monitoring periods.
