Arytenoid adduction is a surgical procedure used to treat vocal cord paralysis. A suture repositions the paralyzed vocal cord closer to the midline of the larynx, mimicking the action of a muscle that no longer functions, which improves the patient ability to speak and swallow. It is often performed together with medialization thyroplasty.
