Septoplasty, also called submucous septal resection or septal reconstruction, is a corrective surgical procedure done to straighten a deviated nasal septum, the partition between the two sides of the nasal cavity, when it narrows one nasal cavity and impedes airflow. Most septoplasty surgeries are completed in 60 minutes or less, with recovery time of up to several weeks, and the procedure is usually performed on patients with a deviated septum, recurrent rhinitis or sinus issues.
