Craniosynostosis Surgery

Craniosynostosis surgery is the surgical correction of craniosynostosis, a condition in which one or more of the fibrous joints between an infant's skull bones fuse prematurely and distort skull growth. The operation removes the fused suture and reshapes the skull to allow normal growth of the brain and head, typically performed between six and twelve months of age while the skull bones remain pliable. Techniques range from an endoscopic strip craniectomy for a single affected suture to a full cranial vault remodeling for more extensive fusion.
