Cryoneurolysis, also known as cryoanalgesia, is a medical procedure that temporarily interrupts nerve conduction along a peripheral nerve by freezing it with a small inserted probe. Because the freezing is precisely targeted, the treated nerve is able to fully regenerate its structure and function afterward, which distinguishes cryoneurolysis from procedures that destroy a nerve permanently. It has been used to relieve a range of painful conditions where a temporary nerve block offers meaningful relief.
