An Ommaya reservoir is an implanted catheter system that provides access to the cerebrospinal fluid, used either to withdraw fluid or to deliver drugs such as chemotherapy directly into it. It is used to treat brain tumors, leukemia, lymphoma and leptomeningeal disease, and it was invented in 1963 by the Pakistani American neurosurgeon Ayub Ommaya.
