Anterior cervical discectomy and fusion, often abbreviated ACDF, is a surgical procedure that relieves compression of the spinal cord or nerve roots in the neck by removing a damaged intervertebral disc and then fusing the adjacent vertebrae to stabilize the spine. It is used once nonsurgical treatments have failed.
