Craterization, in a medical context, refers to the surgical cutting out of part of a bone, as is done in the treatment of osteomyelitis, a bone infection. The same term is also used outside medicine to describe crater formation from explosions or volcanic activity, but its primary medical sense is this bone-removal technique used to address bone infection.
