Breast reduction, or reduction mammoplasty, is the plastic surgery procedure for reducing the size of large breasts. As in breast-lift surgery, the critical corrective consideration is the tissue viability of the nipple-areola complex, to preserve functional sensitivity and lactational capability. The indications for the surgery are physical, aesthetic and psychological, aiming to restore the bust, the patient self-image and the patient mental health.
