Mammaplasty, also called mammoplasty or mastoplasty, refers to a group of surgical procedures that reshape or otherwise modify the appearance of the breast. Augmentation mammaplasty increases the size or changes the shape of the breasts, usually through the surgical implantation of breast implants. Reduction mammaplasty removes breast tissue to reduce their size or change their shape. Reconstructive mammoplasty is breast reconstruction performed after mastectomy to give the breast a more familiar appearance.
