Cerebral palsy is a group of permanent disorders affecting movement and posture, caused by damage to the developing brain that occurs before, during, or shortly after birth. It is the most common motor disability of childhood, and its effects range widely, from mild clumsiness to significant impairment of voluntary movement. It is often accompanied by other conditions, including impairments of sensation, cognition, and communication.
