Multiple Sclerosis

Diseases of the Blood and Immune Mechanism

Multiple sclerosis (MS) is an autoimmune disease where the immune system attacks myelin, the insulating cover of nerve cells, causing damage to one's own central nervous system. It is a type of demyelinating disease, where the nervous system's ability to transmit signals is damaged.

Swank Diet, Treatments

Why this is disputed. Proposed by Swank in 1949 as a multiple sclerosis treatment; the same Wikipedia article's Effectiveness section states there is no good medical evidence supporting it and that the British Dietetic Association does not recommend it.
