Desiré Dubounet

Desiré Dubounet is an American developer of alternative medicine devices, filmmaker and performer who created the EPFX, or Electro Physiological Feedback Xrroid, an energy medicine device marketed as able to diagnose and treat conditions including AIDS and cancer. Independent reviewers and regulators have described the device as pseudoscientific, dangerous to the health of people who relied on it instead of conventional treatment, and a scam, since the bio-energetic forces it claims to measure and balance have not been shown to exist. Dubounet was indicted on fraud charges in the United States in 1996 in connection with the device's marketing. She later relocated to Budapest, Hungary, where she has also worked as a filmmaker and performer. Born 19 June 1951, she remains a documented figure in the history of contested and fraudulent medical devices.
