ABVD

Oncologic Therapy

ABVD is a chemotherapy regimen used as the first line treatment for Hodgkin lymphoma, having replaced the older MOPP protocol. It combines four chemotherapy drugs given together: Adriamycin, also known as doxorubicin, bleomycin, vinblastine, and dacarbazine.

The initial results of ABVD were reported in an Italian thesis from the 1974-75 academic year at the University of Milan. This fact records 1975, the year Gianni Bonadonna's group published the results in English, the point the regimen entered the international literature.
