Heating Pad

Physical Rehabilitation Therapy

A heating pad is a pad used to warm parts of the body in order to manage pain, with localized heat causing blood vessels in the area to dilate and enhancing blood flow, or perfusion, to the targeted tissue. Types include electrical and chemical heating pads as well as hot water bottles; specialized heating pads, or mats, are also used outside medicine, for example to stimulate seed germination and root development in plant propagation or as warming spots for reptiles in the pet trade.
