Whole brain radiotherapy, abbreviated WBRT, is a treatment option for patients with brain metastases, in which radiation therapy is administered broadly to the whole brain over multiple treatments. A variant, hippocampal-avoidance whole brain radiotherapy, is a more selective version that treats the whole brain while reducing the radiation dose delivered to the hippocampus.
