Anavip is a snake antivenom used to treat envenomation by North American rattlesnakes, officially designated crotalidae immune F(ab')2 (equine) and manufactured by Rare Disease Therapeutics. It is a divalent fragment antigen-binding protein preparation, F(ab')2, derived from the blood plasma of horses immunized with venom from two snake species, Bothrops asper and Crotalus durissus, produced through pepsin digestion of the horse plasma followed by purification to a preparation of more than 85 percent F(ab')2. It is indicated for the management of envenomation from North American rattlesnakes and is a prescription-only medication in the United States.
