Anton Ludwig Ernst Horn (1774 to 1848) was a German physician from Braunschweig. He took his doctorate at Göttingen in 1797, worked at the clinical institute in Braunschweig, briefly held medical chairs at Wittenberg and Erlangen, and from 1806 worked at the Charité in Berlin, where Moritz Heinrich Romberg was among his students. He is regarded as the first practising psychiatrist at the Charité. Believing mental illness largely arose from physical suffering, he used mechanical devices, notably a rotating bed and a rotating chair, in treating hysteria. He also published a pharmaceutical textbook in 1803 and is credited with an early description of tabes dorsalis.
