Tobias Cohn, also written Tobias Kohn and known in Hebrew as Tuvia the doctor, was a Polish-Jewish physician of the late seventeenth and early eighteenth centuries, born at Metz in 1652 into a family of physicians; his father and grandfather both practised medicine. He studied at Kraków, Frankfurt on the Oder and Padua, where he took his doctorate in medicine, practised for a time in Poland, and then moved to Adrianople, where he became physician to five successive Ottoman sultans. In 1707 he published in Venice the encyclopedic Ma'aseh Toviyyah, whose medical part is credited with the first description of plica polonica. He settled in Jerusalem in 1724 and died there in 1729.
