Analgesic and Anesthetic Drug Therapy

Drug therapies whose primary purpose is relieving pain or fever, or managing how pain medication is dosed and rotated. This includes general analgesic therapy and antipyretic therapy, nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drug therapy and cyclooxygenase-2 inhibitors, opioid pain management such as opioid therapy and opioid rotation, and pain procedures performed with a drug injection such as trigger point injection. Opioid therapy used specifically to treat addiction, such as opioid agonist maintenance treatment, is grouped instead under CNS and psychiatric drug therapy, since its purpose there is addiction treatment rather than pain relief.
