High-dose estrogen therapy is a type of hormone therapy in which high doses of estrogens are administered. When combined with a high dose of progestogen it is called pseudopregnancy, named because the resulting hormone levels resemble those reached during pregnancy. High-dose estrogen therapy and pseudopregnancy have been used for a range of hormone-dependent conditions, including breast cancer, prostate cancer and endometriosis, using either natural or synthetic estrogens given orally or parenterally.
