Gastrointestinal Drug Therapy

Drug therapies that act on the stomach, intestine and digestive process. This includes acid-related drugs such as antacid therapy and proton pump inhibitor therapy, motility and evacuation drugs such as laxative therapy, nausea drugs such as antiemetic therapy, and drugs and solutions used for a digestive condition such as management of Crohn's disease and oral rehydration solutions. Biologic drugs used for inflammatory bowel disease are grouped instead under immunologic and biologic therapy, since their defining mechanism is immunologic rather than purely digestive.
