An Advanced Therapy Medicinal Product, or ATMP, is a category of therapeutic drug based on cell therapy or gene therapy rather than a conventional chemical or biological drug. The European Commission set out formal criteria for this classification in Regulation (EC) No 1394/2007, which defines which medicines qualify as ATMPs.
