Neurological Reparative Therapy

Neurological reparative therapy (NRT) is a model of treatment synthesized from a body of literature and research on how to improve the lives of individuals, particularly children and adolescents, with a wide range of mental, emotional and behavioral disturbances. Although the term itself is new, the model draws on an older foundation. NRT is not a prescriptive model in that it does not dictate exactly how therapy is to be conducted; it holds that the most important component of successful treatment is not any particular approach or technique but the professional caring and competence of the therapist engaging with the client in a supportive, cathartic and healing manner, with the NRT roadmap describing the route to healthy brain development, attachment and resiliency while relying on the helper's own skills, experience and techniques to make that journey.
