Elastic bandage

An elastic bandage, often known by the brand name ACE bandage, is a stretchable wrap woven from cotton, polyester, and latex free elastic yarns and used to apply localized compression to the body. It is commonly used to manage muscle sprains and strains by compressing the area to restrict swelling and blood flow, to secure a temporary splint after a fracture while accommodating swelling before a rigid cast is fitted, and, in specialized forms, to treat lymphedema and venous conditions. Elastic bandages are fastened with metal clips, stretchable closures, or hook and loop material, and are also used in veterinary medicine to support injured animals; modern versions are generally manufactured without latex because of allergy concerns.
