Adrenalectomy

Adrenalectomy is the surgical removal of one or both adrenal glands, usually done to remove tumors producing excess hormones or a cancerous tumor of the glands, or cancer that has spread from another location such as the kidney or lung. The procedure can be performed through an open incision or through minimally invasive laparoscopic or robot-assisted techniques, which are increasingly the standard of care for their shorter hospital stay and lower blood loss.
