Inguinal hernia surgery is an operation to repair a weakness in the abdominal wall that allows abdominal contents to abnormally slip into the inguinal canal, a narrow passage in the groin. It is the standard treatment for an inguinal hernia, closing or reinforcing the weakened area so tissue can no longer protrude through it.
