Jan Zaorski

Surgeons and Perioperative Specialists

Jan Zaorski (1887 to 1956) was a Polish surgeon who wrote chiefly on surgery of the abdominal cavity. He was a student of Ludwik Rydygier and Zygmunt RadliƄski, and in 1931 he became director of the Elisabethan Hospital in Warsaw. During the Occupation of Poland he founded a private vocational school for auxiliary sanitary staff. In 1945 he became a professor at Warsaw University. He was the author of more than sixty works, mainly about abdominal cavity surgery, and he also wrote teaching scripts for students. Encyclopedia entries on him are short, so this record rests on the biographical facts stated in the English Wikipedia article and its Polish encyclopedia references, and it does not go beyond them.
