Hysteroscopy is the inspection of the uterine cavity by endoscopy, with access gained through the cervix, and it serves both as a method of diagnosing intrauterine pathology and, in its operative form, as a way of treating conditions found during the same procedure. Rather than addressing one specific patient population, hysteroscopy is used across a range of uterine conditions, including abnormal bleeding, fibroids, polyps, adhesions and structural malformations of the uterus.
