Gynecologic and Obstetric Surgery

Operations on the female reproductive organs and procedures performed in connection with pregnancy and childbirth. This includes uterine procedures such as hysterectomy and myomectomy, ovarian and tubal procedures such as oophorectomy and tubal ligation, cervical procedures such as conization and loop electrosurgical excision, obstetric procedures such as cesarean section, cervical cerclage and episiotomy, and pelvic floor and vaginal procedures performed for a gynecologic reason such as colporrhaphy and colpocleisis. Procedures on external genital structures performed for a reason other than an internal gynecologic condition, and procedures shared with male anatomy, are grouped instead under reproductive and genital surgery.
