Cryoextraction is a form of intracapsular cataract extraction, used in ophthalmology, in which a cryoextractor, a specialized cryoprobe, freezes the eye's crystalline lens and pulls it intact from the eye. Dr. Charles Kelman is credited with pioneering the surgical method in 1962, and it has also been used in the treatment of orbital tumors.
