Punctoplasty is a surgical procedure that restores proper drainage of tears when the lacrimal punctum, the small opening that drains tears, becomes blocked in one or both eyes. The procedure widens the blocked drainage opening, usually takes twenty to thirty minutes, and is performed under local anesthesia.
