Hypospadias repair is the surgical correction of hypospadias, a birth defect in which the urethral opening forms on the underside of the penis rather than at its tip. Surgery addresses three goals: extending the urinary channel to its normal position, correcting any curvature of the penis, and reshaping the foreskin, most often using the tubularized incised plate technique also known as the Snodgrass repair. More severe cases affecting the base of the penis may require a staged approach across two separate operations.
