Elmer Belt (10 April 1893 to 17 May 1980) was an American urologist. Within medicine he is remembered as an early practitioner of gender-affirming surgery and as an advocate for the founding of the UCLA School of Medicine. Outside it he was a book collector who assembled a library of research materials about Leonardo da Vinci, the Elmer Belt Library of Vinciana, which he donated to the University of California, Los Angeles between 1961 and 1966. The source summary used for this entry is brief, so his clinical work in urology is described only as far as that summary goes and is left for a later pass.
