A chemical peel is a treatment used to improve and smooth the texture of the skin, most commonly on the face though it can also be performed on the body. A chosen peel solution induces a controlled injury that causes the outermost layers of skin to peel away, a process that can improve fine lines, acne scars and pigment; medium-depth peels must be performed by a medical provider.
