Thrombectomy, or mechanical thrombectomy, is the removal of a blood clot from a blood vessel, most often performed endovascularly as an interventional radiology procedure known as endovascular thrombectomy. It contrasts with thrombolysis by thrombolytic medication, as either an alternative to or a complement of that approach.
