Intravitreal Injection

Intravitreal injection is a route of drug administration in which a substance is delivered directly into the vitreous humor of the eye using a fine needle. It is used to treat eye diseases such as age-related macular degeneration, diabetic retinopathy and infections inside the eye, and because the needle passes directly through the eye's anatomical barrier, it delivers medication more precisely to the affected site than topical treatment while limiting the drug's exposure to the rest of the body, though it carries its own risk of infection or other complications.
