The route, device or method by which a drug reaches the body, grouped separately from the drug class itself because the same route serves many different drugs. This includes injection routes such as intramuscular, intrathecal, intraperitoneal, intracerebroventricular and intravitreal administration, non-injection routes such as nasal administration and transdermal delivery, delivery devices such as a dry-powder inhaler, nebulizer, infusion pump or intrathecal pump, and dosing methods such as pulse therapy and self-administration. A therapy named for the drug or hormone it delivers, such as insulin therapy itself, is grouped instead under the body system that drug treats.
