CNS and Psychiatric Drug Therapy

Drug therapies that act on the brain, mood, behavior and addiction. This includes psychiatric drug classes such as antidepressant therapy, antipsychotic therapy, anxiolytic therapy and mood stabilizer therapy, anticonvulsant therapy and other seizure treatments such as ketogenic diet therapy, and addiction treatment such as methadone maintenance therapy, nicotine replacement therapy and heroin-assisted treatment. Opioid and other drugs used specifically to relieve pain rather than to treat addiction or a psychiatric condition are grouped instead under analgesic and anesthetic drug therapy.
