Ayurveda and South Asian Traditional Medicine

Physicians, sages and modern practitioners of Ayurveda and the other classical and living traditional medicine systems of South Asia, including the Siddha tradition of Tamil medicine. This covers the ancient sages credited with systematizing Ayurvedic theory and the physicians of ancient and medieval India who practiced it, twentieth and twenty-first century Vaidyas known for clinical practice such as pulse diagnosis, founders and teachers who built modern Ayurvedic institutions, hospitals or product lines, and Western-born writers and practitioners who trained formally in Ayurveda and teach or practice it as their primary discipline. A figure whose traditional medicine identity is Unani, Chinese or another named system instead is grouped there rather than here, even when their own biography also touches Ayurveda in passing.
